How to Register and Post in the Poetry Forum:

For posting, from the Forum Home Page (after "logging in" or registering if one hasn't done that yet [necessary for posting]---neither logging in or registering are needed to just read posts)... http://www.lylepublishing.com/cgi-local/ultimatebb.cgi
click on "self development," then "writing and sharing poetry."

At that point, prior postings in the poetry area appear. You can click on any of those if you wish to read them, and if you wish reply to them: at the bottom, click on "post reply", which adds your comments/responses to the string of that one topic's page. From there you can also start an entirely new topic string/page with your own offering positioned at the first of the string, by clicking on "new topic."

Or, from the opening page of the poetry forum... http://www.lylepublishing.com/cgi-local/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=forum&f=16
you can immediately start a new topic string with your offering at the top, by going to the bottom of the page on the left hand side, and clicking "new topic." Assuming you've already logged in (if not, a prompt will come up asking you to log in or register), a window will come up for posting your offering. You can directly type in a title, select an icon if you wish, and type the main body of your information in the big window. Also, you should be able to just copy things you've already done in another program in your computer and directly paste that in. You may want to work on spacing, etc. once it goes into the body window (also note that apostrophes tend to disappear on copying for some reason, and may need to be reinserted).

Also if you wish, you can put bolding and italics by typing in a "b" in square brackets right before what you want bolded--- ---and a "/b" in square brackets to end the bolding--- ---at the last of what you want bolded; and an "i" in square brackets to start italics---  ---and a "/i" in square brackets to end the italics--- ---at the last of what you want italicized. (If that's not too clear, check out "what is UBB Code" at http://www.lylepublishing.com/cgi-local/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=ubb_code_page

In my postings, I use those a lot of bolding or italicizing, either by themselves or together, as an additional emphasis of key words.

Decide if you want to check the "options" down at the bottom of the page (I usually click on "email notification", and NOT "close topic" [so that others can reply to what I post]). However, choose those as you wish. Then click on "add new topic" at the very bottom for the post to get activated and put on the list for others to see.

When I post something, I always then click on it in the topic list to look at it and check that it came out the way I wanted. If not, on the top at the right is an icon of a piece of paper with a pencil marking on it---which is "edit/delete." If you click on that, your original posting box comes up and you can change/improve things and then repost it (or you could delete the whole thing and start new with another fresh window).

Note that I in my general role as Owner and Overall Facilitator of this Discussion Forum very rarely will alter any of your posts.  Only I, an appointed Forum Moderator, or yourself can change your post.   If totally inappropriate to the forum (like a pyramid scheme ad) I may delete the whole thing, or if non-"G" rated words used I may change them...otherwise I don't touch misspellings or grammar mistakes. I'm personally much more interested in the meanings and images (the ART!) rather than having every word exactly correct. But be aware that if you leave misspellings of common words or grammar mistakes in your post they can distract the reader and interfere with you getting your message across.

Since this bulletin board unfortunately is not capable of proofing functions (neither for grammar nor spelling), it's easy to miss those things when you initially type in things. So it's worth going back and checking your posted post and editing it a time or two just to make sure you look your best (you'll notice that most of my posts are edited once, twice, or even more by myself).

Please e-mail me with any questions you have on the above or anything else. Looking forwards to reading and responding to your powerful poetry in my forum.

Dan
