Comparative Study Bible: A Parallel Bible Presenting NIV, NASB, Amp Bible, and KJV.
This makes a wonderful study tool for one's own self, or to give as a gift or 100 Club prize. Four authoritative translations of the entire Bible are placed side-by-side: the beautiful (but old) language of the King James Version, the present-day English of the New American Standard, the crisp/contemporary language of the New International Version, and the expanded "Amplified" Bible which unlocks many of the subtle meanings found in the original Greek and Hebrew languages. In this way, any single verse can be looked at from a variety of viewpoints, all within a strict translation framework for accuracy and reliability. Hardcover. Leather-bound.
The Contemporary Parallel New Testament
Eight renderings of the New Testament are presented in parallel to each other. This allows for many interesting new insights into the subtle meanings of the Greek New Testament when translated and/or paraphrased into English. The eight versions are: King James, New American Standard, New Century, Contemporary English, New International, New Living, New King James, and The Message.
The New International Version is recognized by many as the most readable yet authoritatively-translated contemporary English version of the Bible. The NIV Study Bible is a special edition of the NIV Bible that in addition to the Old and New Testament scriptures contains over 20,000 in-text study notes, color maps, a concordance, Old and New Testament time lines, and pertinent background information. It makes a wonderful personal copy of the Bible, a great gift such as to kids in the 100 Club, and a powerful "all-in-one" study aid.
The Bible is illustrated in a picture/story format, which brings to life many of the accounts found in scripture. Whereas children might find many sections of scripture text difficult to read and understand, this book is very helpful in illuminating the great events across the entire sweep of the Bible. It is especially useful for children up to the age of 12. As a supplement to appropriate text translations of the Bible, it makes a wonderful and powerful gift for kids in general, and prize for kids in the 100 Club.
This is an invaluable aid to Bible study. Every word in the Bible is referenced as to verse. You don't miss finding a verse because it was put under a word other than that which you remember. In addition to the classic concordance, a topical index to over 8,000 biblical subjects, names, places, things, concepts, and events has been added. When I was a young boy at Church, the good brethren found some excuse to buy me a copy of this huge book as a gift. Initially I was just in awe of its huge size, and thought it a grand thing to own and have on my shelf at home. As I got older, I used it more and more. I still have that copy today, and still use it. Hardcover. Leather-bound.
