WAXY MONKEY FROG
Ok, you caught me. This is not a reptile, it's an amphibian. Better known as a frog.
This is a waxy monkey frog---who lives in the trees away from the water, and has thick wax-like skin to keep in moisture.
He doesn't jump! He takes one careful step at a time, hanging on with three feet while reaching out carefully with the fourth.
He's expensive. But well worth the cost if you can get him.
Here he is sitting on a branch, waiting for food (crickets) to walk up to him. Then---lightning fast---he snatches them with his tongue, so fast you can't even see him do it!
He also has special coverings that go up over his eyes to help keep in moisture, and flaps over his nostrils.
I put him here to show you that I'm not entirely given-over to reptiles, and also because since he doesn't need a wet environment, he can do quite fine in a regular lizard habitat.
He's very tame and friendly. If you put your hand in front of his face, he'll clime up on it and sit there!
Here, you see he's no longer green. Yep, he's a chameleon! He can turn white, yellow, green, or brown---depending on his background and how he's feeling.
Above, he's part of the green leaves. Nothing to worry about if you're an insect! It's just a leaf! And here, he's just a knob on a branch...that is, until you suddenly find yourself inside his chomping mouth...
